Exporting
How do I export and download a clip?
Export a clip as an MP4, pick a resolution your plan includes, and download it. Exports are free and unlimited.
Updated
When a clip looks right in the preview, export it as an MP4. The export uses the clip's current caption style, layout and edits, so what you download matches what you saw. Exporting is free: it doesn't use any of your upload hours, and you can export the same clip as many times as you like.
Export a clip
- Open a video from Videos at /app and pick a clip.
- Open the Export & post tab.
- Pick a resolution, then press Export MP4.
- A progress bar shows while the clip renders. When it's done, press Download MP4.
If you change the caption style or resolution after an export, the button changes to Export with this style or Export at a new resolution, so you can render a fresh copy. Export again re-renders the clip as it is now.
Resolutions by plan
| Plan | Sharpest MP4 export |
|---|---|
| Free | 1080p |
| Creator | 1080p |
| Pro | 4K |
| Agency | 4K |
Every plan exports 1080p. 1440p and 4K exports are on the Pro and Agency plans. On Free and Creator, those buttons show but can't be picked. You can upgrade on the Billing page.
When your video doesn't have the pixels
Vertical clips are cut from a wider video, so a clip uses only part of each frame. If that part doesn't hold enough pixels for a resolution, the button for it is shown with a dashed border and can't be picked.
- Tick Upscale anyway to export at that resolution regardless. The panel tells you how many pixels of your video the clip uses and how much it's upscaled.
- If you ask for more than the framing holds without upscaling, the export comes back at the sharpest size it holds, and the panel says so.
- If your workspace has it, Sharpen with AI upscaling (slower) appears when a clip needs noticeable upscaling. It takes longer than a normal export.
Dubbed clips
A dub exports with its own soundtrack, so wait for the dub to finish before exporting it. A dub exports at 1080p first; once it's ready you can export it again at a higher resolution if your plan allows. See AI dubbing.
Downloads and how long they last
Download the MP4 from the clip's Export & post tab. Anyone in the workspace can download a finished export, including viewers.
Finished exports aren't kept forever in every case. If an export is gone, export the clip again: it's free while the source video is kept. The privacy policy lists how long we keep source videos and exports. If your paid plan ends, exports you've made stay downloadable for at least 30 days.
Who can export
Owners, admins and editors can start an export. Viewers and clients can download exports that are already finished but can't start new ones. See Teams and roles.
If an export fails
The panel shows "The last export failed. Try again." Press the button again. If it keeps failing, contact support with a link to the clip.
