Posting and Autopilot
Post a clip now or schedule it for later
Post an exported clip to a connected account, schedule it, follow its status, cancel it, and add a tracked smart link.
Updated
Once a clip is exported, you can post it to a connected account right away or schedule it for later, without downloading anything. You need at least one connected account first; see Connect your social accounts.
Post a clip
- Open the clip and go to the Export & post tab.
- Export the clip if you haven't. The Post button appears once the MP4 is ready. See Export clips.
- Press Post and fill in the form:
- Account: where it goes.
- Title: required. On platforms without a separate title field (such as Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn), the title names the post in Reeltopus and becomes the caption when you leave the description empty. Suggest SEO title and hashtags writes ideas for you.
- Description: the caption or post text. The form uses each platform's own character limit and tells you if you're over.
- Visibility: the platform's choices, such as Public, Unlisted or Private on YouTube.
- Extra options the platform supports, like a cover frame, a first comment, or an AI-generated label.
- Under When, pick Now or Schedule, then press Post now or Schedule post.
If a clip is longer or shorter than a platform takes from apps, the form tells you before anything is sent. Trim the clip in the editor and export it again.
Scheduling
- Pick a date and time in your browser's time zone. It has to be in the future, and at most a year ahead.
- A time less than about a minute away posts right away.
- If an account's sign-in will end before the scheduled time (LinkedIn sign-ins last 60 days), the form warns you. Reconnect before then, or the post won't go out.
Post statuses
Posts for a clip are listed under its post form.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Scheduled for (date) | Waiting for its time. You can cancel it. |
| Posting… | Being uploaded. If the platform is slow or asked us to wait, the reason shows here and Reeltopus keeps trying. |
| Posted · view it | Live. The link opens the post on the platform. "checked live" means Reeltopus confirmed the post is up. |
| Sent to your TikTok drafts | Open TikTok to finish posting. |
| Failed | The reason is shown. Fix it and post again. |
| Cancelled | It won't go out. |
Cancel a scheduled post
Press Cancel next to a scheduled post. You can cancel until it starts uploading. Once a post is live, delete it on the platform itself. Disconnecting an account also cancels its scheduled posts.
Add a smart link
If you've saved links under Links at /app/links, the post form shows a Smart link menu. Pick one and Reeltopus adds a tracked short link to the end of the description, or where you type {link}. You can also add UTM tags to it.
Instagram and TikTok captions can't hold a tappable link. For those, the caption stays as it is, and the short link is made for you to put in your bio. Its clicks still count.
Who can post
Owners, admins and editors can post, schedule and cancel posts. Viewers and clients can't. See Teams and roles.
