Find more moments
Describe a moment you remember and Reeltopus adds up to three new clips for it, at the length you pick.
Updated
The clips Reeltopus picks are a starting point. If you remember a moment that isn't in the list, describe it and Reeltopus finds it for you. This article covers how to ask, the length options and the limits.
How to ask for a moment
- Open a video that's Ready.
- Above the clip list, press Find a moment….
- Under What are you looking for?, describe the moment in a few words. For example: "the story about the first sale" or "where she explains pricing".
- Pick a length.
- Press Find. The button says Looking… while it searches.
When it's done, you'll see "Found 1 moment" or "Found 2 moments", and the editor opens the first new clip. New clips show "Found for" and your request in the clip list, so you can tell them apart.
Length options
| Option | Clip length |
|---|---|
| Any length | 10 seconds to 2 minutes |
| Under 30s | 8 to 30 seconds |
| 30–60s | 30 to 60 seconds |
| 60–90s | 60 to 90 seconds |
| 90s–3m | 90 seconds to 3 minutes |
Clips start and end on whole sentences, so the length lands inside the range you pick rather than on an exact number.
What you get
- Up to 3 new clips per request, best first.
- Each one is scored, titled and given a hook, the same as the clips Reeltopus picked at first. Press Why? to see its factors. See Review your clips.
- No repeats. If a match mostly overlaps a clip you already have, it's left out.
- Framing follows. New clips start with a centered crop and are framed to follow the speaker in the background.
Only moments that are about what you asked for come back. If nothing matches, you'll see "Nothing in this video matched that at that length. Try other words or another length."
Writing a good request
- Describe the content, not the quality. "The part about hiring our first engineer" works better than "a funny bit".
- Use words the speaker would use. The search reads the transcript, so names and key terms help.
- Try another length if nothing comes back. A story might need 60–90s, not under 30s.
- Keep it short. A few words is enough. Requests can be up to 300 characters and need at least 3.
It's free
Finding moments uses no hours. Each person can run up to 30 searches an hour. Past that, you'll see "Too many requests. Try again in a little while."
Limits and messages
- The video has to be Ready. While it's processing, you'll see "Wait until the video is ready."
- "That search didn't work. Try again." or "Busy right now. Try again in a moment." Wait a moment and press Find again.
- "Finding moments switches on at launch." The feature isn't available on your account yet.
- Owners, admins and editors can find moments. Viewers and clients can't.
