Clips and editing
Clip the whole video
Turn an entire podcast or talk into consecutive clips with titles, chapters and YouTube chapters, then export, schedule or Autopilot them all at once.
Updated
By default, Reeltopus picks a video's best moments. If you want the entire video as clips, say a 1–2 hour podcast you'd like to post as a series, choose The whole video instead. You get consecutive clips that together cover the video, each with a title, hook and short description, plus a chapter list you can paste into YouTube.
Clip a new upload whole
- On Videos, under the uploader, set Clip to The whole video.
- Pick how long each clip should be: About 30 s, About 60 s, About 90 s, About 3 min, or One per chapter.
- Optionally tick Skip the intro and outro and Remove dead air.
- Choose your file. Processing runs as usual, then the clips appear in order.
Clip a video you already have
- Open a video that's Ready.
- In The whole video, pick the length and options, then press Clip the whole video.
- It takes a minute or two per hour of video. The page updates by itself.
Your best clips and any moments you found stay where they are. To try another length, press Clip again…: the earlier split's clips are replaced, except ones you've exported, posted or edited, which stay as ordinary clips.
How the clips are cut
- Never mid-sentence. Every clip starts on the first word of a sentence and ends on the last word of one, so lengths vary around the one you picked.
- At topic changes where it can. Reeltopus marks the video's chapters first and prefers to cut where a new topic starts.
- Nothing left out. Clips meet each other, so together they cover the whole video. With Remove dead air, silence between clips is left out and long pauses inside them are tightened. With Skip the intro and outro, the welcome, housekeeping and sign-off are left out.
- One per chapter makes a clip per topic, whatever its length. Chapters over ten minutes are split in two.
Best clips stay marked
Every clip gets a score. The strongest few show Best 1, Best 2 and so on in the clip list, so you know which to post first. The clip list shows the rest in order as Part 1, Part 2…
Framing
The best clips are framed on the speakers before the video is ready. The rest are framed in batches afterwards, and The whole video shows how far it is, for example "Framing the speakers: 48 of 120 clips". Until its batch is done, a clip keeps a centered crop.
Chapters and YouTube chapters
Open Chapters to see the list. Copy as YouTube chapters copies lines like 0:00 Welcome and 4:12 Why the first launch flopped to paste into your YouTube description. Download .txt saves the same list. YouTube shows chapters only when there are at least three, each at least 10 seconds long; Reeltopus folds shorter ones together for you.
Do everything at once
- Export all as a zip. Every clip is exported with its captions, framing and brand kit, then zipped together with the chapters and a list of every clip's title, hook and description. Two hours of video takes roughly 20 minutes to an hour and makes a zip of about 7 GB (1080p), so check you have room before downloading. When it's done, press Download the zip.
- Schedule all… Pick an account, a start date and how many a day. Reeltopus exports every clip and schedules them in order at the platform's usual best times in your time zone. If a clip is longer than the platform takes, you're told before anything is exported. You can cancel any post later.
- Add all to Autopilot. The video joins the videos Autopilot draws from. It proposes these clips at its usual pace and asks for your approval the way you set it up. Autopilot must be on first.
Hours
Clipping the whole video uses the same hours as clipping the best moments: the video's length, once, when it's uploaded. Splitting again, exporting and posting are free. See Hours and usage.
From the API and AI assistants
The same options are in the public API (clipMode: "whole" on uploads, and /projects/{id}/whole-video) and the MCP tools (clip_whole_video, export_whole_video_zip, schedule_whole_video). See the API docs.
