Getting started
The sample project
What the sample project in every new workspace is, what you can do with it and why it uses none of your hours.
Updated
Every new workspace comes with a sample project, so you can try the editor before you upload anything. This article explains what it is, what you can do with it and what it costs.
What the sample project is
The sample is President John F. Kennedy's 1962 "We choose to go to the Moon" speech at Rice University. The video comes from NASA and is in the public domain.
Its clips are already made. You'll find it in Your videos at /app, next to anything you upload yourself.
It uses no hours
The sample was not processed in your workspace. Its clips were made ahead of time and copied in. That means it took nothing from your hours balance, and your full allowance is still there for your own videos.
What you can do with it
The sample works like any other project. You can:
- Browse the clips in the clip list, sorted best first, each with its score.
- Trim clips, cut words and turn on Remove silences and filler words in the Edit tab.
- Change the caption style, colors, hook, title and shape in the Style tab.
- Ask for changes in plain words in the Chat tab.
- Use Find a moment… above the clip list to ask for a specific part of the speech.
- Fix words in the Whole transcript section below the editor.
- Export an MP4 from the Export & post tab and download it.
These actions behave the same as they do on your own videos. Exports and edits don't use hours on any project. Dubbing does use hours, on the sample too, because every dub is charged by the length of the clip. See Dub a clip into another language.
Good things to try first
If you only have a few minutes, try these:
- Open the top clip and watch it with its captions. On your own videos, Why? next to the score breaks it into four factors; the sample's clips show a short note instead.
- Open the Style tab and click through a few caption styles. The preview updates right away.
- Open the Chat tab and press one of the suggestions, like "Make it 30 seconds". Then press Undo to put it back.
- Press ? in the editor to see the keyboard shortcuts.
Removing it
There isn't a button to delete a single video yet. The sample doesn't use your hours, so it's fine to leave it in your list. If you'd like it removed, email support@reeltopus.com from the address on your account.
