Getting started

Use Reeltopus inside ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini

Connect Reeltopus to the AI assistant you already use, in about two minutes and with no code, then ask it to find, edit, export and schedule your clips.

Updated

You can use Reeltopus from inside the AI assistant you already chat with. Once it's connected, you just ask: "show me the best clips from my latest video", "make the top clip karaoke captions", "schedule it to YouTube tomorrow at 9am". The assistant does it in Reeltopus for you. No code, no keys, nothing to install.

It takes about two minutes, and you do it once per assistant.

Before you start

  • You need a Reeltopus account. The free plan works.

  • You add Reeltopus to your assistant with one address. Copy it now:

    https://reeltopus.com/api/mcp

  • When the assistant asks you to sign in, you sign in to Reeltopus, then pick your workspace and what the assistant may do. You can untick Post to your connected accounts if you only want it to look and edit.

ChatGPT

  1. Open chatgpt.com/plugins.
  2. Click Add (top right), then Add custom MCP server.
  3. Name it Reeltopus. Under Connection, paste the address above. Leave Authentication on OAuth.
  4. Tick I understand and want to continue, then click Create as a plugin.
  5. A Reeltopus page opens. Check the workspace and click Allow.
  6. Start a new chat, type @Reeltopus and ask away.

ChatGPT shows your clips as cards you can play right in the chat. You can also attach a video file to the chat and say "clip this".

Some ChatGPT workspaces (Business, Enterprise, Edu) let only an admin add custom servers. If you don't see Add custom MCP server, ask your admin.

Claude (claude.ai, the Claude desktop app and the Claude mobile app)

  1. In Claude, open Customize, then Connectors.
  2. Click Add, then Add custom connector.
  3. Name it Reeltopus, paste the address above and click Continue, then Add. Leave the settings Claude picks for you.
  4. Click Connect. A Reeltopus page opens. Check the workspace and click Allow.
  5. In a chat, ask "Using Reeltopus, show me the best clips from my latest video."

A connector added once works in Claude on the web, the desktop app and the phone app.

To start a new video from Claude, ask for an upload link. Claude gives you a private reeltopus.com link, you upload there, and Claude tells you when the clips are ready.

Gemini

  1. Open gemini.google.com on a computer, then Settings, then Connected Apps.
  2. Under Custom apps, choose Add a custom app and paste the address above.
  3. Sign in to Reeltopus and click Allow.

Google offers custom apps in the Gemini app to personal Google accounts in some countries first. If you don't see Custom apps, it isn't available on your account yet.

Cursor, Claude Code and other tools for developers

MCP and AI agents has one-click install buttons and copy-paste setup for Cursor, Claude Code, VS Code, Windsurf, Grok, Perplexity, Mistral Le Chat and others.

Things to ask

  • "Show me the best clips from my latest Reeltopus video."
  • "Switch the top clip to karaoke captions and remove the pauses, then export it."
  • "Give me a link to upload a new video, and tell me when its clips are ready."
  • "Clip my latest video and schedule the best one to YouTube tomorrow at 9am."
  • "Post my newest video as a series of 60-second parts, one a day."
  • "How many Reeltopus hours do I have left?"

The assistant always asks you before it posts anything or overwrites a clip.

What it costs

Nothing extra. Processing a new video spends its length from your hours, exactly like uploading it in the app. Edits, exports and posts are free.

Disconnect an assistant

Open Settings, API. Under Connected apps, click Disconnect next to the assistant. It stops working at once. You can also remove Reeltopus in the assistant's own settings.

If something goes wrong

  • "This connection isn't allowed to…": you unticked that permission when you connected. Disconnect and connect again, and leave it ticked.
  • The sign-in page shows the wrong workspace: pick the right one from the list before clicking Allow.
  • Posting fails: the social account must be connected in Reeltopus first. See Connect your social accounts. Posting is available to YouTube and LinkedIn today.
  • Still stuck: email support@reeltopus.com with the assistant you use and what you asked.
