Posting and Autopilot
Posting videos and carousels to LinkedIn
Post clips to your LinkedIn profile, turn a clip into a carousel, and keep the connection alive past LinkedIn's 60-day sign-in.
Updated
You can post clips to LinkedIn as native videos, and turn a clip's points into a LinkedIn carousel (a swipeable PDF document post). Both post to your own LinkedIn profile. For the general posting steps, see Post and schedule clips.
Connect LinkedIn
- On Connections, press Connect LinkedIn.
- Sign in to LinkedIn and approve access. Reeltopus asks to identify you and to share posts on your behalf.
- You land back on Connections.
Posts go to the profile of the person who signs in, not to a company page. Only workspace owners and admins can connect accounts.
Reconnect every 60 days
LinkedIn sign-ins last 60 days and can't be renewed automatically. Here's what happens:
- On Connections, the account shows "signed in until" a date. In the last week, it shows "sign-in ends" in a warning color.
- A week before it ends, the person who connected the account gets an email, with a count of any scheduled posts that fall after that date.
- When you schedule a post for after that date, the post form warns you.
- After it ends, the account shows needs reconnecting. Scheduled posts after that date only go out if you reconnect first.
To renew, press Reconnect next to the account on Connections and sign in again. It takes a few seconds.
Post a video
In the post form:
- Post text: the description, hashtags included, up to 3,000 characters. Leave it empty to use the title. LinkedIn has no separate title field.
- Visibility: Anyone, or Connections only.
- First comment: optional, up to 1,250 characters. It's posted under your post, which makes it a good place for links.
LinkedIn takes videos from 3 seconds to 30 minutes long from apps. After the upload, LinkedIn processes the video before the post goes live, so it can show Posting… for a little while.
Make a LinkedIn carousel
On a clip's Export & post tab, the LinkedIn carousel section turns what you say in the clip into slides in your brand.
- Press Make a LinkedIn carousel. Reeltopus writes the slides and the post text.
- Edit them. The first slide is the cover and the last is the closing slide. A carousel has 2 to 10 slides; use Add a slide or Remove to change that. Headings are up to 80 characters and slide text up to 260.
- Edit the Post text (up to 2,800 characters), then press Save.
- Press Post to LinkedIn now, or pick a time and press Schedule on LinkedIn. Pick a smart link if you want one in the post.
You can also press Download PDF and upload it to LinkedIn yourself. If you haven't connected LinkedIn, that's the only option shown, with a link to connect.
LinkedIn takes documents up to 100 MB.
If a post fails
The reason shows next to the post. Common ones:
- The sign-in ended. Reconnect and post again.
- The text is too long. Shorten it and post again.
If you're stuck, contact support with a link to the clip.
