Submagic alternatives for long videos
Submagic is built around animated captions and quick edits for short videos. If most of what you make starts as a long podcast, stream or webinar, you may want a tool where turning long videos into clips is the core of every plan rather than an add-on. Here are the options, with each company's own published terms.
Reeltopus is our product and is listed first. It's in early access, so its details are planned launch pricing and features. Facts about other tools come from their own public pages, checked 17 October 2026; follow each comparison for sources.
Why people look beyond Submagic
Clipping long videos is an add-on
Submagic's core plans cover videos of up to 2, 5 or 30 minutes depending on the plan. Turning a long video into clips is Magic Clips, a separate add-on, $19 a month for 10 uploads per its help center.
Plans count videos, not hours
Plans are counted in video uploads (Starter's 45 credits are shown as 15 videos), and Submagic's public pages don't say whether unused credits roll over.
Fees are non-refundable
Submagic's terms say fees are non-refundable, apart from a 14-day withdrawal right for consumers unless the service has been fully performed.
Posting covers three platforms today
Publishing and scheduling go to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube Shorts, with LinkedIn, Facebook and X listed as coming soon.

How to choose
Start from where your videos start
If you film short videos directly, a captions-first tool may be all you need. If you record long episodes, choose a tool that finds the moments for you and counts the long video once.
Look at caption editing, not just styles
Styles are easy to compare in screenshots. What costs time is fixing names and jargon: check whether a correction updates every clip, and whether you can switch style without losing edits.
Compare the cost of one hour of source video
Add any add-ons you'd need (like a long-video add-on) and divide by the hours you upload each month.
Questions
Can Submagic clip long videos?
Yes, through its Magic Clips add-on. Its core caption plans cap video length at 2, 5 or 30 minutes depending on the plan.
Which alternative is best for animated captions?
Most AI clippers now include animated, word-by-word captions. Reeltopus burns in animated styles with keyword highlights and lets you preview them live; for heavy trend-led styling on already-short videos, Submagic and CapCut remain strong options.
Is there a Submagic alternative with refunds?
Reeltopus refunds a first payment or an annual renewal in full within 14 days, and refunds the hours of any failed job automatically. Check each tool's refund terms on our comparison pages.
