Video clipping for agencies and freelance editors
If you clip podcasts, webinars and founder interviews for several clients, the slow part is finding the moments, not cutting them. Reeltopus isn't a done-for-you service. It's the tool that lets you run one: it shortlists the moments, captions and reframes them, then hands you an editor timeline so you finish the work your client pays for in your own NLE.
What makes agency client videos hard to clip
Your finishing happens in your editor
Clients pay for your edit, not a template. The "Open in your editor" export is a zip with a Final Cut Pro timeline (FCPXML), a Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve timeline (XML) and an SRT file. Captions also export as SRT, VTT or ASS, so they arrive as text you can restyle, not pixels.
Per-clip pricing eats your margin
Clients ask for more variations, and revisions mean re-running clips. Reeltopus bills by upload hours, with unlimited clips, exports and re-runs inside those hours. Your cost per client follows how much footage they send, not how many clips they request, and failed jobs refund hours automatically.
Revision rounds on names and terms
Client names, product names and industry terms get transcribed wrong, and every wrong caption is a revision note. Uncertain words are flagged, and fixing a word once fixes it in every clip from that video. Notes like "make it 30 seconds with a stronger hook" can go straight into chat-to-edit, with undo.
Every client has a different look
Today you pick one of 10 caption styles per clip with a live preview, or finish styling in your editor. Brand kits, templates and separate client workspaces are planned, so each client's fonts and colours are set once.
Moments worth clipping
Podcast episodes for creator clients
Weekly episodes with two hosts or a guest. Split-screen keeps both people in frame and the clip picker checks each clip has its punchline.
Founder and executive interviews
Clear opinions and specific stories from the person clients most want seen. These usually go to LinkedIn.
Webinars for B2B clients
One idea per clip from an hour-long session, cut for LinkedIn and YouTube Shorts.
Event talks and panels
A batch of sessions after a conference, where the clips need to go out while the event is still being talked about.
Course and coaching videos
Short lessons from long modules, used to promote the full course.
How it works
- 1
Upload the client's long video
Upload the episode, webinar or interview. Long files are fine. Upload hours come out of your plan, and re-runs are free.
- 2
Send the shortlist for approval
Clips come back ranked, each with a one-line reason. Share the shortlist and reasons with the client so they approve moments before you spend time polishing.
- 3
Polish in Reeltopus or in your editor
Quick-turn clients: caption, reframe and remove filler in Reeltopus. Clients who pay for a custom finish: export the timeline to Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve or Final Cut Pro and add their brand assets there.
- 4
Deliver
Export MP4 at 1080p or 1440p, or 4K on Pro (capped at the source resolution), plus SRT, VTT or ASS caption files. Hand files to the client, or post for them. Direct posting is rolling out platform by platform.
Recommended setup
| Setting | Use | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Plan | Agency: $99/month or $79/month billed yearly, 80 upload hours, 3 seats (planned launch pricing) | Billed by hours, not clips. Unused hours roll over up to twice your plan, which helps when client volume varies month to month. |
| Captions | Burned-in for quick-turn clients; SRT, VTT or ASS when the client needs editable captions | Separate caption files can be fixed later without re-exporting the video. |
| Layout | Speaker tracking by default; split-screen for two-person podcasts and interviews | Reframing is done before you open your editor, so you start from a vertical cut. |
| Clip length | Set per client and platform: 20–45 seconds for TikTok and Reels, 45–90 seconds for LinkedIn | Ask "make it 30 seconds" in chat-to-edit to make a shorter version of an approved clip. |
| Export | "Open in your editor" zip (FCPXML, Premiere and Resolve XML, SRT) for custom finishing | You keep your own workflow, presets and client assets. |

Questions
Is Reeltopus a done-for-you clipping service?
No. It's the software an agency or freelance editor uses to run a clipping service: it finds and ranks moments, captions and reframes them, and exports clips or editor timelines. You keep the client relationship and the final edit.
Which editors can I export to?
The "Open in your editor" export includes a Final Cut Pro timeline (FCPXML), a Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve timeline (XML) and an SRT caption file. Caption files are also available as SRT, VTT and ASS on their own.
How does billing work for client work?
By upload hours, not per clip. Clips, exports and re-runs inside your hours are unlimited, failed jobs refund hours automatically, and unused hours roll over up to twice your plan. The planned Agency plan is $99 a month, or $79 a month billed yearly, for 80 hours and 3 seats.
Can I keep each client's branding separate?
Not as a saved setup yet. Brand kits, templates and client workspaces are planned. For now, choose a caption style per clip, or apply the client's branding in your editor after exporting the timeline.
Will clips have a watermark?
Only on the Free plan, which adds a small watermark. Paid plans export without one, so clips are ready to deliver to clients.
